Bruney's Getting There

Injured Yankees relief pitcher Brian Bruney is getting closer to making his return to the Yankees bullpen. Bruney has been on the Disabled List since April 23 with a Lisfranc injury. Rumors started to fly about Bruney being out for the season after going DL, but he has fought his way back and is probably just a back-to-back appearance away from returning to the Bronx. In six appearances between Tampa,Trenton, and Scranton-Wilkes Barre, Bruney has given up 6 hits, 5 walks, and 3 earned runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. Brian has also struck out 11 while giving up zero home runs. I think we will see Bruney back in the Bronx within a week. He will be a nice addition to the bullpen since he was pitching well before he got injured. Bruney is 1-0 with a save in 11 and 1/3 innings pitched, posting a 1.59 ERA with a 2:1 strikeout to walk ratio in the Major Leagues this season.
