Matsui's Season Finished

According to Brian Heyman's new article, Hideki Matsui's season is over. He appears headed for surgery. This is Matsui's second knee surgery in a year, but this time the surgery will be performed on his other knee. Matsui's season long absence will be tough to handle especially while the Yankees are fighting for a playoff birth, whether its the Wild Card or the Division crown. Matsui was performing very well this season. In this 2008 Major League Baseball season, Matsui was hitting .323 with 7 home runs and 34 RBI's. Hideki also had a .404 on base percentage while slugging .458. The Yanks will obviously miss their 34 year old Japanese import. Someone will have to step up in Matsui's absence, it remains to be seen if that person is currently on the roster or not.
